Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
The Maple Leafs of the 1930s were in the Stanley Cup finals practically every season. After winning their first Cup in 1932, the Leafs lost in the final in six of the next eight seasons! Offered is an original 1938-39 Maple Leafs promotional team photo. Despite a losing record of 19-20-9, Toronto won two playoff rounds to advance to the final, where they lost in five games, 4-1, to Boston. Dick Irvin and Conn Smythe are pictured on the ice and fellow HOFers Apps, Broda, Horner, Drillon and Jackson are among the Leafs straddling the boards. A vintage Molson beer label was applied to the bottom left corner of this nicely-preserved 10" x 14 1/2" print, which comes in a vintage 13 1/2" x 17 1/2" wood frame.
