Intriguing, not often offered personal miniature trophy here commemorates the Detroit Red Wings' first place finish in the lockout-shortened 1994-95 season and was presented to athletic trainer John Wharton. Coach Scotty Bowman's Wings topped the league with a 33-11-4 record, good for 70 points. Detroit then skated to its best playoff performance in over 25 years, crushing its first three opponents, before losing the finals to New Jersey. A striking miniature President's Trophy in silver plate stands upon a three-tier wooden base here, with three hockey sticks helping to support a shallow, removable bowl. Three pillars, an engraved plaque naming the trophy, Wharton, the team and the year, along with the triangular shape of the approximately 6" base are all noteworthy. What appears to be cleanable tarnish and a minor glue/repair job to secure the two bottom sections of the base are also to mention. A fabulous opportunity for Red Wings collectors and important award enthusiasts. With LOA.
