Maurice "Rocket" Richard used this stick to become the first player in NHL history to record 1,000 points. The late, great Montreal Canadiens icon entered the 1958 playoffs with a combined total of 999 points, including 892 in the regular season and 107 in the playoffs. The Rocket reached the milestone with the first of his league-leading 10 playoff goals 2:22 into Montreal's semi-final opener against Detroit. Richard combined with fellow HOFers Dickie Moore and Doug Harvey to beat Terry Sawchuk in an 8-1 win over the Red Wings at the Forum on March 25, 1958. He finished the night with four points and went on to lead the Habs with 15 as Montreal claimed the third of its five straight Stanley Cups from 1956-60. The Rocket's record-setting stick with "Richard 9" stamped on the front of the shaft and "CCM Professional" and "Raymond Hardware" stamped on both sides has Maurice's original tape jobs on the knob and blade. Big ballpoint autograph at the top of the shaft reads, "Maurice Richard 1000 P.", followed in a variety of inks and pencil by Goyette, Moore, Provost, Bonin, Plante (covered with some paint), Talbot, Pronovost, Olmstead, Turner, Geoffrion, Beliveau (pale), Curry and Henri Richard. Nice game use features great black marks at the bottom of the shaft and some red goalpost paint transfer on the back edge of the heel, which has a crack and a gouge and a few chips to the wood at the bottom of the shaft. Pink paint, mostly in the middle of the shaft, and spots of blue and silver paint do not diminish this historic stick.
