Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

This is a fascinating find -- a vintage Maurice Richard game stick used by the Rocket circa 1950-51. Maurice's iconic number "9" is stamped high on the shaft, which has "Kenny Grant - Johnny Bennett, Montreal, Que" stamped below it. "Jimmy McNiece's 'Super Special' Hand Made in Montreal, Can" is stamped low on both sides of the shaft, with the original three blue bands almost completely intact. "Patented 1934" is stamped on the front of the bottom of the shaft, just above the heel. A vintage black tape job on the blade is missing a couple of rows towards the heel. It has a piece of adhesive tape attached to the loose strand. Tape was removed from the now-bare knob and green stickers labeled "Maurice 'Rocket' Richard" were placed on both sides of the bottom of the shaft. Solid, crack-free Richard game stick displays black marks around the heel. A superb piece for a Habs/HOF shrine.
