Bob Fillion's 1945-46 Stanley Cup Champions ring from the City of Montreal is the oldest Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup ring we have ever offered and the very first example of this ring to ever be offered for auction! Bob, Maurice Richard, Elmer Lach, Toe Blake, Bill Durnan, Butch Bouchard and the rest of the 1946 champion Habs were presented with these rings by the City of Montreal to commemorate their five-game win over Boston in the final. Montreal's coat of arms, featuring the rose, thistle, shamrock and fleur de lys set against St George's Cross, is colorfully displayed on the tableau of this delicate creation which weighs about 9 grams. "Stanley Cup Winners 1945-46" is engraved inside the size 9 3/4 band, which is stamped 10K and Sterling. The ring is made of silver with a small plaquette of gold on each side of the tableau. This historic Canadiens Stanley Cup ring was obviously worn with pride as evidenced by the smoothing of the detail that remains clear to see and scratches on the back of the band. The band has a crack on the back end and there is a solid ding on the band to the left of the tableau and gold plaquette. Comes with Bob Fillion's signed letter of authenticity as well as newspaper clippings that show that the city of Montreal presented Canadiens players with this ring.
