Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

An extremely difficult to piece together 36-card autographed set leads the way here and was part of a 1992 release by "Future Trends" commemorating the Summit Series' 20th anniversary. The 35 members of Team Canada, as well as Russian great Vladislav Tretiak, each signed a limited number of their cards, specially coated with a swirl pattern over the gold ink signatures. Featured are the likes of the Esposito and Mahovlich brothers, Henderson, Cournoyer, Dryden, Savard, Lapointe, Bergman and Goldsworthy. An awesome complement are (97) "regular" cards from the set which our consignor had signed, mostly in blue ink. There are multiples of Espo, Tretiak, Dryden, Henderson and others, along with neat dual-signed cards, with more details on our website. We count seven cards signed by Tretiak and seven by Phil Esposito, including one also picturing and signed by his brother Tony whose autograph shows up four times, including once on the same card as Ken Dryden. The latter’s total is six and includes one also autographed by Henderson, with Paul signing a total of nine cards. Other multiple signers include Pete and Frank Mahovlich, Cournoyer and Bergman (2), with “single” Canadian signers including then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Alan Eagleson, Sinden, Goldsworthy and over a dozen others. Russians who autographed cards include Yakushev (2), Vasiliev (3), Ragulin, Maltsev, Gusev, Lebedev, Zimin, Anisin, Tsygankov, Sidelnikov, Blinov, Bodunov, Kuzkin and Mishakov. What fun the winning bidder will have with this remarkable ensemble, with hundreds of cards not signed also thrown-in, offering other signing possibilities!
