Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
The team of Soviets who would open the hockey world's eyes in September of 1972 during the eight-game Canada-Russia Series is pictured here prior to the epic confrontation, with several members autographing the 7" by 9-1/2" glossy photo. The late great Valery Kharlamov, beneath and partially on the image of goaltender Vladislav Tretiak, leads the way, while the famous goalie's sig shows up nicely along the bottom edge, near the middle. Other signers we have been able to decipher are those of Alexander Gusev, Vladimir Lutchenko, Valeri Vasiliev, Alexander Yakushev, Alexander Bodunov, Vladimir Petrov, Vladimir Vikulov, Yuri Lebedev, Yuri Liapkin, Viacheslav Anisin, Boris Mikhailov and Yuri Blinov. A little bleeding and some weaker signatures, along with light creasing in the photo, but a wonderful piece recalling a wonderful team. An LOA from Classic will be included.
