Highly intriguing original statistic sheets were originally obtained from long-time NHL stats man Ron Andrews and conjure up memories of the intense Canadian-Soviet battle that was Game 7 of the Summit Series. The Score Sheet, filled in by Andrews on September 26, 1972, recalls how, after a scoreless second period that sent the game into the third tied at 2-2, Gilbert and Yakushev traded goals before Paul Henderson scored the winner with 2:06 to play. The Penalty Record sheet reveals that 18 minor penalties were called while seven other sheets deal with shots at the goal, shots on goal and who was on the ice when goals were scored. So much for the notion that the Russians didn't shoot as much as Canadians did; they fired 64 shots at Tony Esposito's goal (compared to 49 for Canada towards Tretiak) and outshot Team Canada 31-25. Ah, but it's the number of goals that counts! An incredibly interesting one-of-a-kind paperwork, with three sheets signed by Andrews, this historic document is sure to entertain Summit Series aficionados!
