Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
The year 1987 marked the 15th anniversary of the iconic Summit Series between Team Canada and the Russians. The event was celebrated by a number of "Relive the Dream" gatherings, including two tribute games that were played in Hamilton and Montreal by about 16 veterans of each squad to remember the series. Each player present received a glorious gold ring to mark their participation and the example offered here was gifted to Team Canada member Dennis Hull. A hefty red stone sits at the table surrounded by "Team Canada" and their opposition noted in Cyrillic and the years 1972 and 1987 at the top and bottom. One shank has a carved Soviet hammer and sickle with CCCP and 1972 noted. The opposing side sports a golden maple leaf and the words Team Canada 1972. The interior of the band is marked with the assayer's 10K stamp and the Jostens identifier. Size 13, and in near-excellent condition showing some wear. This scarce memento is the first of its kind offered in the hobby. From the collection of Dennis Hull, complete with his signed letter of authenticity.
