Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Incredible Team Canada 1972 haul of 31 game-issued hockey sticks from the legendary Summit Series. These remarkable and historic Canada-Russia series sticks were obtained by someone associated with Team Canada 1972 after Game 4 in Vancouver. It was after Canada's 5-3 loss to the Soviets at Pacific Coliseum on September 8 that Phil Esposito made his memorable speech broadcast on live TV across Canada. Sticks issued for Espo and Bobby Clarke (2 Sher-Woods stamped with his No. 16 and misspelled "Clark") are featured along with fellow HOFers Dionne, Lapointe, Perreault and Gilbert. Also included are sticks stamped and issued for Pete Mahovlich, Dennis Hull (2), Cashman (2), Berenson (5), Awrie (3), White, Seiling, Hadfield (2), Redmond, and junior star Billy Harris (3), who scrimmaged as part of Team Canada. The 10 Sher-Wood sticks each have early July 1972 factory date stamps. Included are seven of the Victoriaville Special Model sticks with red and white tape bands made specifically for the Canada-Russia series. Berenson's Northlands have red and white bands and the trio of Espo and Cash Northlands have Bruins yellow, white and black. An awesome lot and an incredible opportunity!
