Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
This framed litho of artist Ken Danby's "The Skates" has a fantastic provenance story. From the personal collection of Wayne Cashman, the litho offered was gifted to Cash by Bobby Orr. Wayne's wife Lyn explains that the original framed print presented to Cashman by Hockey Canada as a member of Team Canada 1972 was destroyed in a house fire in 1973. Aware of his teammate's admiration of Danby, Orr gave him this lithograph, which is signed and dated '72 by Danby in pencil. Mounted in a frame that measures roughly 26x32, the print features a "54/100" limited-edition notation with a surface of 16 1/2" x 22 1/2" displayed within a tasteful white, green and black triple matte. Comes with Wayne Cashman's signed LOA.
