Wayne Cashman's 1970 Stanley Cup championship trophy conjures up magnificent memories for Boston Bruins fans of the most memorable Cup-winning goal in NHL history. After a tough, six-game win over the Rangers in the quarter-final, Bobby Orr and the Big, Bad Bruins whipped Chicago in four straight games in the semis. Cashman contributed two game-winning goals during the playoffs and two of his five tallies overall came in the final against St. Louis. Boston cruised to three lopsided wins before the Blues put up some competition in Game 4. In the first minute of overtime, Orr gambled to pick off a clearing attempt and sent the puck to Derek Sanderson behind the Blues' net. Orr drove in front to take Turk's return pass and snap a shot through Glen Hall's legs to secure Boston's first Cup in 29 years. The image of Orr flying through the air in celebration is an immortal and iconic connection to the ultimate moment of triumph. You can recapture that moment with this silver plate treasure presented to Cash by the National Hockey League. "Boston Bruins, 1969-70" is etched into the trophy's finish along with the names of the Cup champion Bruins, including Cashman, Orr, Sanderson, Phil Esposito, Johnny Bucyk, Ken Hodge, Gerry Cheevers, GM Milt Schmidt and head coach Harry Sinden, all in vintage hand-stamped engraving, unlike today's computerized work. Green felt covers the bottom of the black wood base. Magnificent Bruins championship trophy stands a shade under 13 inches tall. It has aged nicely with a golden patina. There is some loss to the silver finish around the lip of the bowl, a small spot of oxidation to the right of Speer's name on the barrel, and a few spots of tarnish. The trophy's maker, "Petersen", is stamped into the silver-plate at the bottom of the back of the trophy. From the personal collection of Wayne Cashman with his signed letter of authenticity.
