"Scoring" five is always special, with this lot starring Lord Stanley highlighted by a sensational 2" bronze medal in its original velvet-lined navy blue presentation box which includes "Preston Guild Merchant" and "1902" in gold on the lid. Featuring the raised images of "The Earl of Derby K.G. Guild Mayor of Preston and the Countess of Derby" on one side and the Derby Coat of Arms on the reverse, it is joined by a smaller (1-1/4") similar silvery medal, also produced by London's Spink & Son. Three others, also dated 1902, include two with images of the man who donated the Stanley Cup, with the other a Borough of Preston 1-1/2" affair commemorating the coronation of King Edward VII, with his image joining that of Queen Alexandria.
