Hockey legends King Clancy and Frank Boucher are among the seven deceased HOFers whose autographs are featured in this lot. Frank Selke is one of five late, great HOF builders along with 1933 Calder Trophy winner Carl Voss, Black Hawks owner Arthur Wirtz, and Bill Hanley and Robert Lebel, a pair of Canadian amateur hockey administrative giants. Boucher has signed in ballpoint on a 1963 letter and Clancy's autograph cut is displayed in a framed montage. Selke (autograph cut), Wirtz (signed 1937 check), Voss (signed HOF card in framed montage) and signed Hanley and Lebel signed HOF cards round out the lot. Boucher has signed in his capacity as league commissioner a letter dated March 8, 1963 to former NHLer Metro Prystai on a typed sheet of Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League letterhead. Nicely preserved, with the lower of two horizontal folds through the bottom edge of Boucher’s blue ballpoint signature;
“Best Regards, Frank King Clancy” reads the autograph cut on blank paper displayed at the bottom of a 16 1/2” x 12” framed montage that includes a 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" modern print of a picture of the legendary defenseman in his Leafs uniform;
“Loving thoughts, Frank J Selke” reads the legendary general manager’s 1 1/2” x 3” autograph cut on blank paper which comes with a Selke 1980s HOF postcard;
Wirtz’s fountain pen signature sits at the bottom of a 1937 Chicago Stadium check for $4.71 to Western Union;
Voss has signed in blue ballpoint his HOF card which is displayed in an 18” x 12” framed montage that includes a 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" modern print of a 1930s picture of himself in his Ottawa Senators uniform;
“William (Bill) Hanley” reads the blue ballpoint autograph in the upper left corner of his HOF card;
LeBel’s ballpoint signature in shaky handwriting runs vertically up the left side of his HOF card.
