Amazing lot of IIHF World and European championship medals won by Czechoslovakian forward Josef Augusta from 1969-78. Czechoslovakia's place as one of the international powerhouses of that era, second only to the USSR, is clear to see in this haul that features 6 silvers and two bronzes, all in nice, clean shape. The oldest medals are two 1969 bronzes, which include both Augusta's world and European championship medals for a third-place finish behind the champion Soviets and host Sweden. Silver medals for both the world and European championships are featured from 1974 (in Finland), 1975 (West Germany) and 1978, when the Czechoslovaks were once again second only to the Soviets on home ice in Prague. The six oldest "Huguenin" medals come with their presentation boxes and the 1978 silvers have their original ribbons. The six Huguenin medals from 1969, 1974 and 1975 feature three world championship medals that each measure approximately 2 1/4” in diameter (6 mm). The three European championship medals from those years are slightly smaller at roughly 1 7/8” in diameter (5 mm). The 1978 world and European silver medals are the same size at just under 2 3/4” in diameter (7 mm). Each of this pair features a clasp at the top with “1978” in raised letters along with their original yellow and blue ribbons.
