The Soviet Union stormed to yet another world title in Finland in 1982. After outscoring their opponents 48-16 to sweep the 7-game first round, the Soviets coasted to gold with wins against Canada and Sweden in the final round before closing out with a scoreless draw against Czechoslovakia. Originally from the collection of Vladimir Myshkin, offered here is the 1982 IIHF world championship gold medal presented to Vladislav Tretiak's longtime backup. The medal, which is nicely preserved with handling showing in surface marks, measures approximately 6 3/4" in diameter. Its original yellow and blue presentation ribbon remains looped through the clasp with "1982" in raised numbers attached to the top.
