This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/12/2012
Russian greats Sergei Makarov and Boris Mikhailov's sticks are featured in this lot of four game-issued twigs belonging to members of the powerhouse Soviet national team. Also included are goalie sticks that were done up for Vladimir Myshkin and Sergei Mylnikov. Teammates on the Soviets' silver medal 1980 Olympic team, Makarov and Mikhailov each won two Olympic gold medals, the former in Sarajevo (1984) and Calgary (1988), and the latter prior to Lake Placid in Sapporo (1972) and Innsbruck (1976). Player surnames are stamped on the shafts of each of these four game-issued sticks, which are great adds to any international hockey/stick collection. “Makarov” is stamped on the shaft of the 2-time Olympic gold medalist and 8-time world champion’s Koho stick;
“Mihailov” is stamped on the shaft of the longtime Soviet captain’s Montreal Ryon Surprise game-issued stick which has a chipped edge low on the shaft just above the band of red, white and blue tape;
“Myshkin” is stamped high on the shaft of Vladimir’s Montreal game-issued goalie stick;
“Mylnikov” is stamped low on the shaft of Sergei’s Torspo Pro 5000 game-issued goalie stick.
