Terrific hockey award here is a medal-like pin that commemorates the Penticton Vees winning the Allan Cup, emblematic of senior hockey supremacy in Canada. Finalists the previous season, the Vees had to come from behind in the spring of 1954, rallying from a 3-games-to-1 deficit to beat the Sudbury Wolves, the clinching 3-2 win notched in front of a record crowd of 4,500 in Penticton. The famous Warwick brothers, including Bill and Grant, led the locals in the finale, with the former setting up the second goal and the latter scoring what proved to be the Allan Cup-winner in the second period. A little over an inch in diameter, the gold-filled pin indeed has "GF" on the reverse, while a maple leaf and crossed hockey sticks on the front have "Allan Cup - Penticton Vs - 53-54" engraved and arched above them. With light surface scratches and in excellent condition, the memento awaits its new appreciative home.
