Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/12/2012
Succulent plum uniform worn by Gene Peacosh during the 1973-74 season while with the New York Golden Blades of the WHA. The Blades did not last the full season and their jerseys were purchased by Verona Sports, which stripped the names and added their own tagging before re-selling them to a local men's league. This example has the number "25" on the back below the outline of Peacosh's name in individually-applied lettering (now removed). This one shows good wear with a team repair above the back numbers near two unrepaired holes. We spot red board paint transfer up on the left shoulder and the jersey still has the original garter-style fight strap in the tail. Two additional team repairs turn up on the lower left arm and the other sleeve shows wear and staining with another jumbled repair. Two more repairs are there on the lower seam nearby a handful of smaller holes. An extremely rare style from a short-lived (10 road and 10 homes games played) World Hockey Association franchise.
