Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/12/2012
Three terrific and bold fountain-pen signatures of one of the founding governors of the NHL, T. P. (Tommy) Gorman are offered in this gathering of mementos from the former Montreal Canadiens General Manager. Lot includes a signed typed letter on Ottawa National Baseball Club letterhead with an additional paragraph in Gorman's handwriting (initialed) and another on Ottawa Auditorium letterhead (was cut), dated October of 1952. The best of the bunch is a letter, typed on Montreal Canadiens letterhead, dated April 9, 1945, promising to capture the Stanley Cup. Also included is a beautiful Rice Studios photo (6x9" folio), a vintage photographic print (5x7") of Gorman and the Stanley Cup Champion 1922 Ottawa Senators! Gorman, inducted into the Hall of Fame in the builder's category, passed away in 1961, making his signature a scarce discovery in any form.
