In perhaps the greatest upset in NHL playoff history, the 1937-38 Chicago Black Hawks, who squeaked into the playoffs with a dismal 14-25-9 record, knocked off the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Americans, and then the League champion Toronto Maple Leafs in a four-game final to win the Stanley Cup, their second ever. The result was historic on several fronts, as not only was the Hawks' regular season winning percentage of 39% the worst ever to-date for a Cup winner, but the team had a record 8 American born players in its lineup, and an American coach (Bill Stewart). Offered here are a complete program and ticket stub for the decisive Game 4, won 4-1 by the Black Hawks at Chicago Stadium the evening of April 12, 1938. It must have been quite a crowd, as an attendance record of 18,497 was set. This was the last championship won by a Chicago team in old Chicago Stadium until the Bulls won the NBA title there in 1992, 44 years later. The program is complete and a solid VG+, with small writing on the cover noting the Cup win; while the ultra-scarce ticket stub is in terrific Ex/Nm condition.
