Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012

Considered one of the greatest and most innovative goaltenders in NHL history, Jacques Plante won seven Vezina trophies, a Hart Trophy and six Stanley Cups, but he is perhaps best remembered as the man who pioneered the use of goalie masks. He was also the first to roam from his crease and play the puck, and his emergence as a star with Montreal in the mid 1950s served to usher in the modern era of goaltenders. He passed away in 1986 at the young age of 57, and his signature remains among the most highly sought after in the hobby. Offered here is as nice a Plante autographed item as one could hope to find - a complete, March 1957 issue of 'Sport Revue' magazine with a gorgeous colour image of "Jake the Snake" on its cover, crisply signed in vintage ink. The magazine itself is in nice Ex+ condition, and loaded with NHL action photos, while the autograph is a sharp 9/10.
