Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/12/2012
The 1930s were a golden decade for the young National Hockey League, led by stars whose names still resonate today, like Howie Morenz, Eddie Shore, King Clancy, Tiny Thompson and Charlie Conacher. These great players and dozens more are featured in hundreds of game action photos from the 1935-36 season, all neatly clipped from a New York newspaper and packed into this 115 page scrapbook. Lots of goals are shown being scored, Morenz is featured as a Black Hawk, and included are several pages of images from the New York Americans two Playoff rounds that season, vs. Chicago and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The scrapbook is solidly bound, with some cover wear, and a couple of the larger clippings have separated at their fold. A fantastic visual representation of this era, with many pictures never seen since; from a time when sports action photos, particularly of hockey, were just beginning to appear in major newspapers of the day.
