Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012

The NHL All-Star game returned to Detroit for the first time in 25 years on February 5, 1980; and what a historic game it was, as Gordie Howe made his final appearance as an NHL All-Star (at age 51), while 18-year-old rookie Wayne Gretzky made his first. In a wide open affair at the Joe Louis Arena, won by the Wales Conference 6-3, Howe brought the house down when he set up Real Cloutier for the game's final goal, resulting in a prolonged standing ovation. A complete program from the game is in sharp Ex/Nm condition, as is a full ticket stub (glossy and un-creased), and also included is a program from the prior night's All-Star dinner, autographed on its cover by the ageless Howe, HOF'er Darryl Sittler, Red Wing favourite Reed Larson (who scored in the game) and long-time Wings trainer Lefty Wilson.
