Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012

Here is a rather significant program, dated January 18, 1927, from the inaugural season of Detroit's storied NHL franchise, now in its 85th year. The Cougars, as they were initially known, made their very first visit to Montreal to play the Canadiens on that night, in just the second game ever played between the two teams. Think about that for a minute - these classic rivals, who to date have played each other over 600 times including playoffs - facing off in the Forum for the first time. The Canadiens would triumph 5-3 in this meeting, led by Howie Morenz and rookie goalie George Hainsworth. The program is in outstanding condition for its age - Ex+, with light staining on the front cover edge.
