On the night of March 16, 1961, as the Canadiens prepared to face the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Montreal Forum, Bernie 'Boom Boom' Geoffrion was on the verge of history. With 49 goals, he needed but one more to tie the magic 50-goal record set by former teammate Maurice Richard 16 years earlier. Halfway through the third period, it happened - Geoffrion took a quick pass and beat Leafs goaltender Cesare Maniago, setting off a wild celebration from the Forum crowd as his teammates piled on top of him. In addition to being just the second player to score 50 goals, he would win both the scoring title and Hart Trophy. The program and ticket stub offered here are both in terrific Ex/Nm condition - program is scored, with Geoffrion noted as the first star.
