This rare and extremely colourful WHA referee's game-worn jersey is from the personal collection of Wayne Bonney, who enjoyed a lengthy career as an NHL linesman after his stint with the 1970s rebel league. The eye-catching red-white-and-blue design of the WHA's referees' sweaters was a drastic departure from the black-and-white zebra look of NHL officials. Spectacular tri-colour chenille WHA crest sits on the left breast of Bonney's distinctive referee's jersey from the rebel league, which he had mounted in a framed display. Included in the 29" x 24" frame with a "World Hockey Assoc. 1972-1979" plaque are his original nameplate and the two referee's numbers he wore in the WHA. Bonney had the red, white and blue triple-twill nameplate and one of the numbers removed from the back of the jersey but they could easily be restored. Zip-up neckline beauty with Gerry Cosby tagging in the neck has been very nicely preserved and displays truly vibrant colors. This rare treasure comes with Wayne Bonney's signed LOA.
