Splendid six-pack of silks came with tobacco products in the early-20th century, with three color variations represented in the 1-3/4” by 3-1/4” affairs offered by Imperial Tobacco. A little fraying, more so at the top of the predominantly yellow example is to mention, along with varying amounts of "splits" to report. The yellow (1) is the best, followed by the red (3) and the blue (8). Most impressive is the image of a hockey player in a Pennsylvania uniform and featured on a 5” by 7” silk from the college series by Murad Cigarettes. It is applied to a red cardboard mat and joined by silks measuring 3-1/4” by 5-1/4” and featuring players from Stanford University and the University of Chicago. Minor edge fraying and light, rather non-detracting creases are to note. From the pre-NHL days when smokes, tuques and turtleneck sweaters were “in”!
