Comparatively much scarcer than their popular Coca-Cola counterparts from the same 1964-65 season are Sprite caps featuring head shots of members of the "Original Six" teams. We've never handled a complete set before - Sprite caps in any significant quantity simply never turn up! This set is the English "Taste Sprite" variety, with none of the caps appearing to have ever been put on bottles and thus free of any dents/bends that would occur upon opening the soft drink bottles. They're held in a thought-provoking custom-designed and crafted wooden plaque that has the exact same layout as the plastic "rink" that one could send away for back in the day to display the caps. Each one here fits securely into place but a check of a few reveals that they can be pushed out from the back where individual screwdriver-size holes are present. Circular team logo decals were added in the appropriate places, while that NHL shield at the top is a push-out logo from a 1970s' hockey card insert set. The caps display varying degrees of oxidation, resulting in little spots and a speckled effect to most. But oh, captivating to hold and behold are these coveted collectibles, only a couple of years from having been displayed for half a century! Fabulous complete set will be a killer conversational piece in your special collectibles shrine.
