Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/12/2012
The one and only Wayne Gretzky signed this wooden Hespeler CS 5500 model gamer he used midway through his time with the New York Rangers. Gretzky's big, bold black marker signature sits low on the front of the shaft of this beauty which is fully taped in black "bulldog" wrap on the blade with traces of the Great One's trademark baby powder still there. "Gretzky" is factory stamped in blue on the shaft which has Gretzky's custom-shaved black foam gripper knob. Additional factory coding includes the pattern number "55 7" stamped on the back of the shaft correlating to the flex marking of "115-120". Obvious game use includes a gouge on the top edge of the shaft just above the beginning of Gretzky's autograph, along with a few good stick and puck marks on the lower part of the shaft and on the toe of the blade.
