Ray Bourque wore this Bruins away black jersey by Starter during the 1999-2000 season, his final year with the Boston Bruins. Moving over to Colorado near the end of the season, Ray helped the Avs to a Stanley Cup win the following year in 2001. Pro-Player and size "56" are there in the neck of Ray's jersey from his last year in Boston. The captain's "C" decorates the left breast and the NHL's 2000 patch is sewn over on the other side. Two stitched team repairs, one at each elbow, add to a few solid stick marks on the lower front and right elbow. Screening inside reads "Lettering by Custom Crafted" and "Official Boston Bruins 2nd Set 1999-2000 Season." near the added logos of the Bruins and the NHL 2000 design. The only blueliner to score more than 400 (410) regular season goals, Ray had his number 77 retired by both the Bruins and Avalanche prior to the 2001-02 season. This example was obtained by our consignor directly from a member of the Bourque family and will come with a detailed letter outlining the provenance. [red]Addendum; Please take notice that we omitted to mention the sleeves were custom shortened on the jersey. Also take note that the jersey is a black away jersey, not a white home jersey as originally stated in the description of the item in our printed catalogue.[/red]
