Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012

Always intriguing are official NHL documents, with The Big M, Frank Mahovlich, the focus of these. Young Frank's 1956 fountain pen signature concludes a one-page letter to Hap Day informing the Leafs' boss that Mahovlich agrees to play three games for either the Leafs, Winnipeg Warriors or Rochester Americans and that the games won't affect his amateur status. Day's bold fountain pen signature meanwhile is on a letter on nifty Maple Leaf Gardens letterhead and sent to the NHL's Central Registry. An NHL by-law is signed beautifully by Punch Imlach (red ink) and Mahovlich and dated October 7, 1961, while NHL president Clarence Campbell's signature is on two letters to Imlach regarding Mahovlich misconduct penalties/fines, with three others featuring his initials. Loads of interesting perusing awaits the high bidder.
