Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012

Hockey icon Howie Morenz stars here, with all three of the legend's NHL teams represented. An oversized picture, (8-3/4 x 11-3/4), on thin card stock is a scarce premium available through Blueline hockey magazine in the 1950s and is VG with slight warping and light soiling. A Crown Brand photo has a tiny crease and needs to be re-glued to its EX backing. A vintage photo, originally 8" by 10" and picturing Morenz with the Rangers has been trimmed, while a January 20, 1935 Leafs at Black Hawks VG program lists Howie wearing number 3. Beautiful graphics on a 1938 Sport Story Magazine, with an article by Jim Hendy, along with a few other goodies complete the interesting ensemble. The feature article in the Street & Smith’s publication is a 10-page affair penned by Hendy, is a “Part 1” job and titled “Morenz The Magnificent – The Story of the Most Sensational Forward in Hockey History.” Three other Canadiens are featured on Crown Brand photos; Babe Siebert, Art Lesieur and Cliff Goupille, with the VG photos accompanied by a Canada Starch envelope and a couple of 1932 newspaper clippings from games in which Morenz scored.
