Vintage press "master photo" depicts an action scene from a 1933-34 match between the New York Rangers and the visiting Montreal Canadiens held at Madison Square Gardens. Typed directly onto the front of the image is "The immortal Howie Morenz, Montreal Canadiens, tires to push the puck past N.Y. Ranger goalie Andy Aikenhead, as defenseman "Duke" Dutkowski, Ranger defenseman, checks him. "Butch" Keeling of the Rangers is skating around back of the net." The sepia-toned photograph measures 8 by 10 inches and is marked on the backside in pencil "Return to James Hendy" with an address in Minneapolis. Additional notations read "P.78" and "MSG". This piece would have been used to produce numerous copies to be sent to various media outlets for print. In very good condition with some light finish cracking.
