A letter signed by hockey legend Newsy Lalonde on Montreal Canadiens letterhead is one of the many highlights of this sensational scrapbook spanning the career of Marty Burke. Offered from the family of the late NHL defenseman, this lovingly-prepared 100-page 12x10 scrapbook is filled with clippings from Burke's career, which included back-to-back Stanley Cup wins with the Montreal Canadiens in 1930 and 1931. Lalonde signed in black fountain pen as "Manager" on his October 10, 1933 letter. Typed on Canadiens stationery and folded in the middle and twice vertically, it advises Burke to report to training camp in Kingston. Among the other remarkable Habs items is an incredible original 4x6 vintage photo of Howie Morenz, Aurele Joliat, Burke and the rest of that powerhouse Canadiens lineup posed in two rows in white shorts and tank tops for off-ice training. Burke is featured with a few of his Habs teammates in a couple of original 5x7 photos taken in Atlantic City in the spring of 1930. A complete 44-page edition, not including cover pages, of the 1930 "Les Canadiens en Caricature" booklet is also included along with a pair of official NHL rule books from 1929-1930 and 1933-1934 and a mass card from the funeral of Canadiens trainer Eddie Dufour. Morenz's roommate with the Canadiens, Burke was also dealt to Chicago in the blockbuster deal that sent the Babe Ruth of Hockey to the Windy City. Black Hawks clippings are also included along with a couple of original snapshots featuring Burke and Chicago coach Clem Loughlin, among others. Comes with a signed letter of authenticity from the family of Marty Burke.
