Ah yes, those flash bulbs in the background still look cool over 40 years later, don’t they?! Fabulous foursome here features four youngsters as they embarked on marvelous careers, three of them the Hall of Fame variety. Coming in at PSA NM-MT 8 is the O-Pee-Chee rookie card of Maple Leaf legend Darryl Sittler, with the slightest of diamond cuts possibly holding it back from reaching the MINT 9 status of the Guy Lapointe and Rejean Houle RCs. PSA Population Report numbers reveal that this Lapointe example is in a first place tie with 22 others as the highest ever graded by the company, while a single “10” edges out 13 Houle MINT 9s. Meanwhile, Gilbert Perreault lived up to all the advance billing, which included “He’ll be a strong contender for the Rookie of the Year Award” on the back of his Topps rookie card, (he did indeed win the Calder Trophy), which features snowy white borders and which is slabbed NM-MT 8 by PSA. Fantastic cards of some fantastic players!
