A masterful passer with few peers was longtime Bruins’ center Bill Cowley, with this example of his 1939-40 OPC rookie card also in remarkable select company, its EX-MT+ 6.5 grade edged by just one NM 7 Cowley RC on the PSA Population Report. Of the nearly 800 cards, all players combined, from ’39-40 submitted to PSA, only (73) have been recognized at 6.5 or higher. Cowley’s legacy meanwhile includes becoming the NHL’s all-time points leader in 1947, (regular season and playoffs combined), with his nearly two points a game average in ’43-44 (71 in 36 games) a mark that stood until the great Gretzky came along.
