Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012

From World Wide Gum's intriguing big 135-card set of 1937-38 which included players, as well as coaches, managers and minor leaguers, comes this one picturing legendary Toronto Maple Leaf boss "Connie" Smythe. It was Smythe's lone hockey card appearance during his long reign at the helm of the Leafs and mentions him as being the man behind the building of Maple Leaf Gardens. The bilingual text also informs of his assembling the first New York Rangers squad before arriving back in Toronto where he had coached the University of Toronto teams. Encapsulated and graded VG-EX 4 and awaiting a nifty pre-war stash.
