Historical Hockey Memorabilia Spring 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/12/2012
Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as a player and not as a coach, Dick Irvin appears on just two different cards from his playing days, with this scarcity being the first. Pictured in his Regina Capitals uniform and in his early 30s, Dick’s surname is erroneously spelled “Irwin”, with the Paulin’s confectionary company rewarding collectors with a new hockey stick for complete 70-card sets sent to the Winnipeg firm. Card #22 of the set, this example includes creases and has a hole and a tear at the top, rendering it PR 1 in the eyes of PSA. Still, one of the keys to this elusive issue.
