Imperial Tobacco’s card #34 of the C57 set curiously pictures then future Hall-of-Famer Eddie Gerard as an amateur with Ottawa’s New Edinboro team. The diminutive left winger-turned-defenseman was signed by his hometown Senators in November of 1913, spent his ten pro seasons with the team, contributing to Ottawa’s three Stanley Cup championships in the early-1920s. Eddie’s RC displays much better than the PR 1 grade it received from PSA, with the grade lowered by considerable paper loss on the reverse. Also a fine football player with the Ottawa Rough Riders, Gerard is a member of the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.
