A goaltending great looking mighty young indeed on his official rookie card is Clint Benedict, an Ottawa-born lad who would go on to lead the NHL in shutouts and goals-against-average on seven occasions. The first NHL goalie to wear a mask, (he did so for five games), and the first to drop to his knees to make a save, earning the nickname “Praying Bennie”, Benedict backstopped the Senators to three Stanley Cups and did the same for the Montreal Maroons in 1925-26. Soiled and with rounded corners, card #3 in Imperial Tobacco’s C57 set has been slabbed PR 1 by PSA.
