A classic tartan at the chin design, hinting at goaltender Kirk McLean's heritage, adorns his game-worn mask and cage combo worn while with the Florida Panthers back in 1998-99. McLean, best remembered for his stellar play with the Vancouver Canucks including a memorable and exciting 7-game Stanley Cup Finals battle against the Rangers in 1994, saw ice time in 37 games over two seasons with the Panthers before moving on to the New York Rangers. This stunning mask, built and decorated by legendary craftsman Greg Harrison, features a golden paint scheme with blue/red/white panther heads at each side and a menacing sharp-clawed paw reaching over the top. Complete with painted backplate and all original strapping, the mask is signed inside by Greg Harrison who has added "for Kirk McLean" and noted the year "98". All interior padding displays good wear and a handful of smaller paint chips at the forehead attests to the game use. Scattered puck marks and more paint chipping at the edges only adds to the tale of the game wear. Photo evidence reveals that Kirk wore a different mask when he first arrived in Florida during the 1997-98 season and this one the following year in 1998-99. From the collection of Kirk McLean, complete with his signed letter of authenticity.
