Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Ah here he is, Fred Taylor, hockey’s dashing “Cyclone” pictured in his Renfrew Millionaires sweater and bringing forth the story of how he was one of hockey’s first mega-stars who teams got into a bidding war over. The bidding here will be over Taylor’s card #20 of Imperial Tobacco’s 1911-12 C55 set, slabbed VG-EX+ 4.5 by the reputed PSA. Cyclone’s contract with Renfrew for the NHA’s inaugural season (1909-10) was said to be worth $5250 for the 12-game schedule, while baseball star Ty Cobb earned $6500 with Detroit to play 154 games! A true hockey legend awaits your big-time pre-war portfolio and, please note, may be subject to a silent reserve.
