Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Leading-off our consignor’s almost overwhelming array of high grade encapsulated treasures is one of the key and most desirable cards of Imperial Tobacco's coveted C55 set. It depicts the legendary Art Ross, then a member of the Montreal Wanderers and captures him in his turtleneck sweater. A defenseman during his playing days, Ross played on Stanley Cup winners with Kenora and the Wanderers during his 14-year career, and then left his mark on the hockey world as an innovator, strategist, promoter, coach and manager. Card #31 here has been deemed worthy of delectable NM 7 status and is bettered on the PSA Population Report by just one other example that received a NM-MT 8 grade. Five other 7s join this one, with a total of 99 having been submitted to PSA as of this writing. Representing an exceptional opportunity, this inspiring offering may be subject to a silent reserve.
