Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

Labor unrest left its mark on this big lot of 49 NHL official game pucks from two mid-1990s All-Star Games. A total of 28 pucks, including 10 in their original plastic packaging, are from the 1995 game in San Jose, which was never played because of the lockout that shortened the NHL schedule to 48 games. The Sharks, who were awarded the 1997 game instead, drew up a quirky logo for the unplayed 1995 game which features “NHL 1994-95 All-Star Game San Jose Arena” on the four-sided teal-and-silver logo screened on the front. Also included are 21 pucks from the 1996 ASG in Boston, each in its original plastic packaging. Hometown hero Ray Bourque copped MVP honors with a late goal that lifted the Eastern Conference to a 5-4 win at the Fleet Center on January 20, 1996. All 49 In Glas Co ASG pucks have the same reverse with “Official Game Puck” in black letters along the top of screened orange circle with “In Glas Co” at the bottom. Commissioner Gary Bettman’s updated facsimile signature appears in black below the NHL shield.
