An original newspaper photo negative of Bobby Hull’s record-tying 50th goal in 1962 is featured in this lot of vintage photos which also includes a huge negative of an Eddie Shore portrait. The 4x5 negative of the 23-year-old Golden Jet joining Rocket Richard and Bernie Geoffrion as the third member of the 50-goal club comes in a newspaper morgue sleeve stamped with the date “Mar 26 1962”, the day after Hull beat Gump Worsley for the Black Hawks’ only goal in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers at the old Madison Square Garden. Included is a small newspaper clipping of the shot with a caption of the scene and a photo credit to Charles Hoff, a morgue clipping of Hull holding up his 50th goal puck in the dressing room, and four fabulous 8x10 modern prints of the photo.
The unique Shore 5x7 photo negative comes along with a vintage sleeve with the Bruins legend’s name handwritten on it. Two modern 8x10 prints, one glossy with a border, and one matte without, of the image of Shore in his famous No. 2 Boston uniform are included.
Bobby Orr is one of four HOFers who have signed a goalmouth scene of a Rangers goal by Rod Gilbert. Orr has placed a dedicated autograph on the left side of the vintage 8x10 photo which is also signed by Ratelle, Gilbert, and Gerry Cheevers.
Rocket Richard, Elmer Lach and Butch Bouchard are among the 1950-51 Montreal Canadiens celebrating their semi-final win over Detroit in a dressing room team picture, an 8x10 print stamped “David Bier Studios” on the reverse.
Jack Adams sits in the middle of the front row of a vintage 7x9 team photo of the 1936-37 Detroit Red Wings, the first American team to win consecutive Stanley Cups. “Wide World Photo” is stamped on the reverse and a caption pasted above it features the names of all of the Red Wings pictured, including HOFers Syd Howe and Ebbie Goodfellow.
Eddie Wiseman has signed the bottom right of a vintage photo of himself taking in a 1936 game at Detroit’s Olympic with fellow New York Americans teammates Dave “Sweeney” Schriner and Llloyd Klein. This 7x9 photo had the left side of the image cut off. A newspaper caption on the reverse has the name of a fourth Americans player crossed out in pencil.
Also included are vintage 10x8 prints of a Lionel Conacher Montreal Maroons Rice Studios portrait and a 1946-47 Montreal Canadiens team photo montage, the latter of which has a few creases that do not diminish display.
