Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

This great pair of vintage Toronto Maple Leafs team pictures from the early 1930s features a colorized photo of the 1931-32 Stanley Cup champions and a 1933-34 Leafs British Consols Cigarettes premium picture. The 1932 champs are pictured on the ice of the brand new Maple Leaf Gardens in an Alexandra Studio black-and-white pose that added blue to the team’s sweaters and socks. The vintage 7” x 9” picture’s display is in no way diminished by its rough right edge or slight paper loss on the top left edges. Smythe, Irvin and Selke are seated in front row along with Bailey and Gracie on the right, and Conacher, Finnigan and Day on the left. Trainer Tim Daly is on the left side of the back row followed by Clancy, Blair, Horner, Chabot, Levinsky, Primeau, Jackson, Darragh and Cotton. Alexandra Studio also produced the photo montage for the 6x9 British Consols premium team picture, which features goaltending great Hainsworth in the Maple Leafs’ lineup laid out in two rows with inset photos of Smythe, Selke, Irvin and Daly on either end. Despite obvious handling, including light creasing and marks and tape on the top corners on the back, this highly desirable Leafs team picture is all set for suitable display in a worth Maple Leafs shrine!
