Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Featuring numerous variations and a total of 85 different photos, this group of pictures on thin paper stock and issued by Quaker Oats during the 1945-to-1954 time frame constitutes close to a complete Montreal Canadiens set. Highlights include the tough Jean Beliveau photo (scotch tape stains across the top and bottom borders), three different of Toe Blake (including “autograph above skates”), three different Bill Durnans but not the blue tint variation, three different Murph Chamberlains including the blue tint, both John McCormacks (one low grade, the other with tape like Beliveau), Mike McMahon (back damage) and Dollard St. Laurent. Condition sensitive collectibles feature a mix of conditions with very few real high grade examples. Some have back damage, some have a little writing on the front or back and some have an edge tear or two, but overall, they’ll display fine in binder pages and will be a treat to flip through while contemplating life in the NHL in the Original Six era. Notables not present are the four Maurice Richard variations and a few of the more scarce photos. Eight duplicates are included, bringing the grand total to 93.
