Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
The enviable foursome of Maurice Richard, Elmer Lach, Ted Kennedy, and Turk Broda is displayed on this vintage commemorative beer stein for a 1953 match at Montreal’s Summerlea Golf Club. “NHL Hockey Match” is engraved at the top of the mug followed by “Labatt Open”, “Aug. 17-23, 1953”, and the name and location of the club. All four HOFers are listed at the bottom of this glass-bottomed pewter souvenir from the match that pitted the Habs icons “vs.” the Leafs greats. Nicely preserved overall, despite obvious handling that includes scratches, scrapes and a small dent on the rim, this commemorative stein with “Unity Pewter” and “Made in England” stamped on the bottom was likely originally gifted to one of these four hockey superstars, the only question is which one? Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
