Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Nice big lot of 13 sticks features 9 members of the 500-Goal club and 4 more hockey greats who scored at least 450. Most are game-used and signed by the likes of Brett Hull, Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman and Luc Robitaille. A signed Mario Lemieux stick makes a total of five of the top 10 all-time goal scorers accounted for, along with 600-goal scorers Jagr and Sakic, while Recchi and Lafleur round out the 500-Club. Fedorov, Savard, LaFontaine and Stastny, who all came close, round out this magnificent lot. Please see our website description for more photos and details. Brett Hull (741 Goals) dedicated his silver paint pen signature on the now-bare blade insert of his Easton two-piece composite game-used stick. Hull’s orange grip tape knob is intact and “Hull Custom 80” is factory printed on the front of the shaft of this Easton Ultra Lite Graphite 100, which has “Hull” printed on the top of the composite blade insert which has a small chip on the heel of its blade with a very distinctively twisted toe;
Mark Messier (694) placed a dedicated black marker signature on the yellow painted wood blade insert, which has “New-York” written on the back edge of his two-piece game-used stick, which displays really nice game use. “Messier” is stamped on the top of the insert, which has “#11” written below it in black marker and retain’s Messier’s black tape job on the blade. Louisville Graphite+Rubber shaft also retains Messier’s black tape knob;
Steve Yzerman (692) signed in black marker low on the back of the shaft of his Titan TPM2020 game-used stick. Stevie Y’s nicely-worn white tape knob and his black tape job on the blade are both intact and “S. Yzerman” is stamped on the front of the shaft;
Mario Lemieux (690) signed in blue marker on the bare blade of a Koho Revolution stick with “Lemieux” stamped low on the front of the shaft, this autographed limited edition stick with a “24/150” plaque on the side of the shaft is very similar to what Super Mario used in the early 1990s;
Luc Robitaille (668) signed in fine black marker low on the back of the shaft of his Sher-Wood PMP 7000 game-used stick. Robitaille’s black tape knob remains with “Robitaille” stamped on the front of the shaft. Robitaille’s white tape job has worn through on the bottom edge of the blade which exhibits some cracks on this otherwise solid gamer;
Jaromir Jagr (646, through 2010-22) signed in white paint pen on the front of the heel of the Canadien blade insert on his two-piece composite game-used stick. “Jagr” is factory printed on the Koho Core Beam 9 composite shaft which retains Jagr’s black tape knob with a band of red tape at the bottom. “#68” is written on the front of the black tape job on the blade.
Joe Sakic (625) signed just above the heel of his black tape job on the blade of his Louisville TPS game-used stick. “Sakic” is stamped on the front of this Nordiques-era gamer which retains Sakic’s white tape knob and exhibits really nice game use. A small crack in the middle of the shaft is to note on this otherwise solid beauty;
Mark Recchi (577) signed in blue marker on the front of the heel beside his black tape job on the blade of his Canadien C50 game-used stick. “Recchi” is stamped on the front of the shaft with his no. “8” in red marker just below his white tape knob;
Guy Lafleur (560) signed low on the front of the shaft of his Sher-Wood PMP 7000 stick. Date stamp low on the back of the shaft appears to read “21 Nov. 1984” possibly dating the stick from the era of his surprising retirement from the Montreal Canadiens. Black tape jobs on the knob and blade remain intact, “17” is written in blue marker above where “10” is stamped on the front of the shaft;
Sergei Fedorov (483 goals) signed on the bare blade of a red Russian Sportech stick;
Denis Savard (473 goals) signed in blue marker low of the shaft of a Canadien “Savvy” limited edition Canadien game-used stick. It retains Savard’s red tape knob and black tape job on the blade and has “Savard”
